Grain corn is the main component for animal feeds. Currently Malaysia is a net importer of grain corn because Malaysia is unable to supply the high demand of the livestock industry. Low productivity and higher cost of production are the main issues that impede the development of the grain corn industry. In general grain corn was cultivated by smallholder enterprises whose production cost are generally higher.
